James T. D'Olimpio, MD

Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Oncology, Hospice and Palliative Staten Island, NY

Dr. D'Olimpio is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and serves as Principal Investigator for Hawthorne Health at their Staten Island office.

Trained as an Internist in the Mt. Sinai system, he completed a fellowship in Oncology at Montefiore/Albert Einstein and served as Director of Supportive Oncology and Palliative Medicine at the Monter Cancer Center/Northwell Cancer Institute from 1997 to 2020. He founded both Palliative Care and Supportive Oncology programs at North Shore University Hospital and is a recognized clinical investigator with experience across multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology, neurology, pulmonology, and palliative medicine.

His interdisciplinary background spans internal medicine, oncology, neurology, dermatology, and surgery, and is reflected in his board certification in Palliative Medicine. He is a member of the Neurologic Complications Committee of MASCC and founded the Advanced Lung Disease Special Interest Group for the AAHPM in 2012.

Dr. D'Olimpio has extensive experience with diverse and underserved populations throughout his career, with particular focus on sickle cell disease, COPD, and lung cancer. He currently teaches an elective at Hofstra School of Medicine on Disparities of Access to Care and is committed to expanding access to clinical research in communities historically underserved by traditional trial models.
